NEXT GENERATION VRFB ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS

ABSTRACT:
The project aims at developing advanced patentable technologies for next generation vanadium redox energy storage systems, including new active cell materials, fluid distribution architectures, anti-crossover measures, bidirectional power management system, and multivariable system supervisor. They are aimed at increasing round-trip efficiency by about 10%, approaching 85%, i.e. a value comparable with lithium-based batteries, but with independent sizing of power and energy, lower cost, and much longer cycle life.
